J3 Academy and Fitness is designed to fulfill your fitness needs. Our trainers and instructors have a vast variety of experience in fitness, martial arts, and competition preparation. The goal of J3 is to offer a welcoming, comfortable, family-oriented environment for you to workout, begin or continue your study of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, learn about personal safety, and empower you to accomplish your personal fitness goals. We will work closely with you to accommodate special needs or individual requirements. Whether you have no martial arts experience or you are a professional fighter, we have classes for you. Fundamental Gracie Jiu-Jitsu
Fundamental Gracie Jiu-Jitsu class is about learning and applying the basic Jiu-Jitsu techniques. Students will learn the fundamental skills and strategies of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, including submissions and escapes. The class will focus on proper techniques from the standing position covering Jiu-Jitsu take-downs and throws, including ground work. The class is effective for any beginner as well as the advanced student looking to better his/her basic Jiu-Jitsu techniques.
Advanced Gracie Jiu-Jitsu
The Advanced class is designed for the student who would like to take their Jiu-Jitsu to newer heights. The focus of the class is learning how to combine basic and complex techniques into a comprehensive strategy. The Advanced Class is guaranteed to advance your Jiu-Jitsu to the next level and enhance the Jiu-Jitsu experience. This class focuses on strategy; it was designed to help the member develop proficiency and heightened awareness.
Kids Gracie Jiu-Jitsu
The focus of the J3 youth program is respect, confidence-building, and discipline, along with fun, of course. Gracie Jiu Jitsu teaches skills to handle all situations children might encounter in a defensive and non-violent manner. Students will learn real-life situations and how to handle a variety of challenges. Safety, respect and personal responsibility are top priorities in all classes. Our goal is to empower our children and teens to become confident and strong, both physically and mentally.
Aikido is a Japanese martial art that on a purely physical level is an art involving some throws and joint locks. The art of Aikido does not focus on striking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to lead them off balance, gain control of them, and to throw them away from you or toward the floor. It is not a static art, but places great emphasis on motion and the dynamics of movement. Aikido is non-aggressive as it depends on the energy of the attack.
Judo (柔道 jūdō, meaning “gentle way“) was created as a physical, mental and moral pedagogy in Japan, in 1882, by Jigoro Kano (嘉納治五郎). It is generally categorized as a modern martial art which later evolved into a combat and Olympic sport. Its most prominent feature is its competitive element, where the objective is to either throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. Strikes and thrusts by hands and feet as well as weapons defenses are a part of judo, but only in pre-arranged forms (kata, 形) and are not allowed in judo competition or free practice (randori, 乱取り). A judo practitioner is called a judoka.
A martial art developed in Thailand, Muay Thai includes blows struck with the fists, elbows, knees, and shins. This is not your traditional Muay Thai/kickboxing class. Get ready to sweat, burn calories, and get into shape. Class sizes are small, and our trainers customize each class, based on your individual fitness level. This is essentially like having a personal training session for the cost of a group fitness class. Our instructors incorporate their own training experience to make each class unique.
Self-defense starts with situational awareness and potential threat avoidance. We teach the fundamentals of avoiding conflict with quick tactical defense moves such as take-downs and submission holds. Students will learn practical moves, including Jiu-Jitsu positions to gain confidence and obtain tools to remove themselves from a variety of different possible situations.
Cardio Training Program/Fitness
This class incorporates moves from boot camps, as well as kickboxing classes, for a fun and challenging workout that is different every time. Endurance, strength, and overall fitness are a focus and goal for each student.
